I'm certainly not alone in wanting to work from home and am grateful to have found a company with solid values, great products, and a uniquely lucrative compensation plan. There must be many women like me at home with young children, fighting not to go back to the corporate world. Eight years ago, when my husband and I adopted our first child from Asia I told my boss that I definitely would be coming back full time after my family leave. Little did I know my heart would be torn between staying at home with my young baby and leaving my lucrative job at Intel. I had worked hard long hours for 15 years in the computer industry climbing from a computer design engineer to an engineering project manager. Along the way I worked with some remarkable people and was on a team that garnered two patents for suspend/resume function on a laptop computer. Leaving my profession to be a stay at home mom seemed like I was deserting myself or the best that I had been. I read many books and agonized many more hours, finally deciding to give it a try with a leave of absence. At the end of the leave I was scared, but decided to stay home full time. Since then I have built a wonderful life around my family and got to achieve another goal for myself, triathlete. I am much more balanced and happy.
So when my husband suggested that we could use the extra income and I might consider going back to work at Intel, I saw my world unraveling. Another mother from my daughter's school offered to share information about a 23 year old company that she had been buying affordable, non-toxic home care products from for four years and saved her family money in the process. My hope was that saving money would get my husband off my back about going back to the corporate whirlwind. When the opportunity was described to me of how I could also share the online store with other folks and work from home doing it I just thought this was too good to be true. Why hadn't I heard about these products earlier? Certainly with young children at home I would have loved to be using non-toxic cleaners instead of worrying about keeping them safe from my dishwashing detergent and other caustic cleaners. It's never too late to get started.
That's how I got started. If you're struggling to find a reputable stay at home job, let me know and I'll share more about the opportunities. I'm looking for motivated, individuals that like people and are passionate, goal oriented and coachable. Maybe that's you!
